Matica Makedonska publishes works by Isidora Sekulić
Matica Makedonska has released two books by Isidora Sekulić, ‘Sopatnici’ (Companions) and ‘Pisma od Norveška’ (Letters from Norway), in the Macedonian language. The works were translated from Serbian by Ana Antonovska.
Sekulić, who in 1939 became the first woman elected as a member of the Serbian Royal Academy, is a significant figure in Serbian modern prose, essays, and travel literature. ‘Sopatnici’, originally published in 1913, consists of sixteen prose texts exploring themes of solitude, longing, and the need for freedom. ‘Pisma od Norveška’, first published in 1914, expands into travel writing that addresses culture, education, and social solidarity.
The Macedonian editions include the complete works along with translator's notes, explanations, and biographical supplements.
