Matica srpska celebrates 200th anniversary at Square of Cyrillic

The 200th anniversary of Matica srpska was commemorated during the 13th 'Square of Cyrillic' event. The institution, founded in 1826 in the Austrian Empire, has played a central role in preserving the cultural and creative continuity of the Serbian people across changing borders.

During the event, Matica srpska President Prof. Dr. Dragan Stanić and Dr. Drago Perović, vice president of the member society in Montenegro, discussed the institution's history and future. Stanić emphasized that the long-term survival of the organization relies on successors building upon the foundations laid by previous generations. Dr. Perović highlighted that the mission of the Montenegrin branch remains identical to the central institution's historical purpose.
