Matino receives regional funding to enhance waste sorting

The Puglia Region has approved funding for the municipality of Matino to enhance its waste sorting systems. Under the “RaccogliAMO Matino” project, the municipality will receive €51,680.77.

The project involves the installation of a mobile, computerized ecological island consisting of six metal modules for different types of waste. This 24-hour service will allow for the monitoring of waste deposits, tracking of service usage, and optimized emptying operations to improve the quality of sorted materials.

This funding is part of a €4 million regional initiative under the POC Puglia 2014-2020 program. The measure is specifically reserved for municipalities in Puglia that achieved a waste sorting rate of 70% or higher in 2025, aiming to reward sustainable waste management practices and promote a circular economy.
