Mato Grosso audit court suspends transfer of Sinop Regional Hospital to public health consortium

The Mato Grosso State Court of Accounts (TCE‑MT) ordered an immediate suspension of the handover of the Hospital Regional de Sinop “Jorge de Abreu” to the Consórcio Público de Saúde Vale do Teles Pires. Judge Guilherme Antonio Maluf granted the injunction after finding the technical studies inadequate, no proof of the consortium’s operational capacity, and risks to the continuity of services for roughly 35 municipalities and about 860,000 residents. The contract in question is valued at around R$ 321 million.

State Governor Otaviano Pivetta attacked the decision, calling the court’s action a delay to health improvements and asserting that the 16‑municipality consortium is fully qualified, efficient and a model for the state.
