Mato Grosso authorities and indigenous leaders meet to address violence against women

The Operational Support Center for Studies of Domestic and Family Violence against Women and Gender (CAO VD) held an institutional meeting with indigenous leaders in Mato Grosso to address violence against indigenous women. The meeting, organized by the Federation of Indigenous Peoples and Organizations of Mato Grosso (FEPOIMT) and the Raoni Institute, focused on the demands of the Capoto/Jarina Indigenous Territory.

Participants included representatives from the Kayapó Special Indigenous Sanitary District (DSEI), the Raoni Institute, FEPOIMT, the Indigenous Health House (CASAI) of Peixoto de Azevedo, and the Mato Grosso State Public Prosecutor's Office. Discussions centered on the challenges faced by the Kayapó people, specifically regarding access to rights, the protection of indigenous women and girls, and the strengthening of support networks.

Key outcomes from the dialogue include plans to conduct field actions within indigenous territories to provide guidance and awareness regarding violence against women and girls, as well as improving inter-institutional coordination to enhance prevention and protection measures.
