Mato Grosso authorities join indigenous women's meeting and Araguaia-Xingu expedition
The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso (MPMT) participated in the opening of the 1st Meeting of Indigenous Women of the Cerrado and Pantanal. Held at the Pakuera Village in the Bakairi Indigenous Territory in Paranatinga, the event was organized by the Federation of Indigenous Peoples and Organizations of Mato Grosso (Fepoimt).
The meeting aims to discuss rights, promote traditional knowledge, and develop collective strategies to combat violence against indigenous women. Prosecutor Elisamara Sigles Vodonós Portela led discussions focused on listening to the lived experiences and challenges faced by women within their communities.
Separately, the Special Women's Prosecutor's Office of the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT) announced its first participation in the 8th Araguaia-Xingu Expedition. Scheduled for November 4 to 15, this initiative, coordinated by the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso (TJMT), brings public services to remote communities in Bom Jesus do Araguaia and Confresa.
The ALMT team will provide legal guidance, social assistance, and psychological support, specifically focusing on the prevention of violence against women and increasing awareness of available support channels in areas with limited access to state structures.
