Mato Grosso authorities seize R$ 648,000 in drugs from ambulance
Authorities in Mato Grosso seized 216 tablets of skunk, also known as super-marijuana, valued at approximately R$ 648,000. The drugs were discovered inside an ambulance belonging to the municipality of Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade.
The seizure was carried out by the Special Border Group (Gefron) during a patrol in the rural area between Vila Bela and Pontes e Lacerda, near the Bolivian border. Officers intercepted the vehicle after receiving intelligence that it was traveling an unusual route through alternative dirt roads.
The narcotics were found stored in six large bundles within the space intended for patients. Two individuals were arrested at the scene and taken to the Border Police Station (Defron). The driver reportedly stated he picked up the vehicle near the border and was to receive R$ 5,000 for the transport. The operation was supported by the Brazilian Army.
