Mato Grosso candidates criticize public health system

During a televised debate for the government of Mato Grosso, candidates Natasha Slhessarenko and Wellington Fagundes both criticized the state's public health system. The candidates highlighted issues including long waiting lists for consultations and exams, a shortage of healthcare professionals, and inadequate hospital infrastructure.

Slhessarenko addressed the concentration of doctors in Cuiabá and the low utilization of newly inaugurated hospitals. She advocated for hiring professionals through public exams and strengthening municipal and regional hospitals to reduce patient transfers. Fagundes emphasized the need to decentralize care and noted that improving services depends on the completion of hospitals and the training of qualified teams.
