Mato Grosso completes infrastructure upgrades in all 142 municipalities

The government of Brazil's Mato Grosso state has finished public‑works projects in every one of its 142 municipalities. The programme, managed by the State Secretariat of Infrastructure and Logistics (Sinfra), delivered road paving, new concrete bridges, urban‑mobility improvements, sanitation upgrades, public‑lighting replacements and tourism‑related works such as aerodrome upgrades and waterfront revitalisation.

Key highlights include the Jardim Leblon traffic complex and a new bridge over the Rio Cuiabá in the capital Cuiabá, paving of eleven neighbourhoods, completion of asphalt on the MT‑100 route in Araguainha, extension of the MT‑199 road to the Bolivian border, and paving of the MT‑140 in the youngest municipality. The LED‑lighting programme "MT Iluminado" has retro‑fitted streetlights in 132 municipalities, lowering electricity consumption and enhancing night‑time safety. Funding was provided directly by Sinfra and through agreements with local mayors, aiming to regionalise investment and eliminate historic geographic isolation, especially along trade corridors to Bolivia.
