Mato Grosso Court honors retiring judge and names new presidential candidates

A ceremony at the Mato Grosso State Court (TJMT) on Monday honored the career of Justice Maria Erotides Kneip, who is retiring after 41 years on the bench and will turn 75 on Thursday. Attendees, including the court president José Zuquim Nogueira, mayor Abílio Brunini, and public defender Luziane Castro, praised her pioneering role as the third woman appointed to the state judiciary and highlighted her contributions to justice and public policy.

Separately, the court issued an official notice confirming the candidacies for its top leadership positions. Judge José Luiz Leite Lindote is the sole candidate for president, and Judge Gilberto Giraldelli is the sole candidate for vice‑president. Two candidates will contest the corregedoria‑geral position, while nine judges vie for seats on the special organ. The internal election will be held by secret electronic ballot on 8 October, with the elected officials to assume office on 19 December and begin duties on 1 January 2027.
