Mato Grosso Court of Accounts advances public policy and oversight initiatives

The Court of Accounts of the State of Mato Grosso (TCE-MT) is conducting several initiatives focused on public management and social welfare. The institution is currently mapping food insecurity across the state, with President Sérgio Ricardo warning mayors that the deadline to respond to the mandatory questionnaire is approaching. As of the report, only 18 of the 142 municipalities have completed the form.

In terms of fiscal oversight, the TCE-MT recently approved the 2025 accounts for the municipalities of Cláudia and Sorriso, noting significant budget surpluses and high investment levels in education and health. Additionally, the court is engaging with political candidates for the 2026 state elections by presenting a ‘Charter of Commitments for Early Childhood and Education’ to ensure these priorities are integrated into future government management plans.

On a community level, the TCE-MT concluded a ‘Citizenship Crusade’ that provided over a thousand services, including health and document issuance, and has announced a follow-up action in Nova Nazaré scheduled for December. Meanwhile, in Goiânia, the municipal government has summoned 129 approved candidates from a 2022 public contest to fill positions in the health and education sectors.
