Mato Grosso Court of Accounts demands urgent MT-170 repairs
Sérgio Ricardo, president of the Mato Grosso Court of Accounts (TCE-MT), has called for urgent repairs to the MT-170 highway. During a technical meeting aimed at finding solutions for the road, Ricardo advocated for the current construction companies to remain on-site to complete their work rather than restarting the bidding process, citing the need to finish before the rainy season.
Ricardo also proposed that the Brazilian Army be involved in other roadworks throughout the state to ensure higher standards of pavement quality and durability. He noted that since the highway transitioned from federal to state control, the construction standards were altered, resulting in a road that is already heavily damaged after less than a year of use. The TCE-MT has announced it will begin an audit of the state's road network.
