Mato Grosso Court opens portal for legal precedent proposals

The Tribunal de Justiça de Mato Grosso (TJMT) has launched an online form that allows judges, prosecutors, lawyers, academics and other legal professionals to submit suggestions for issues that could be addressed through the Incidente de Resolução de Demandas Repetitivas (IRDR) or the Incidente de Assunção de Competência (IAC). These mechanisms enable the court to issue binding legal theses that standardise rulings across the state, reducing divergent decisions and enhancing legal certainty.

At the same time, a detailed guide for attorneys outlines the various ways a civil procedure can be extinguished under Brazil’s Código de Processo Civil, including termination with merit, without merit, by payment, or due to loss of the object. Understanding these modalities helps legal teams manage cases more efficiently, conserve resources and ensure appropriate procedural outcomes.
