Mato Grosso court restricts candidate from official event roles

The Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso (TRE-MT) has issued an injunction preventing state deputy candidate Alessandra Ferreira Cróco de Souza from participating in official institutional roles during the 2026 Copa Integração in Rondonópolis.

The decision, signed by auxiliary judge Flávio Fraga e Silva, follows allegations that the candidate used a municipal social event for promotional purposes. The event, funded by a R$ 1.048 million agreement between the municipality and the Instituto Amor e Vida (IAV), saw the candidate deliver a speech on the official stage during the opening ceremony.

The judge noted that electoral legislation prohibits public agents from allowing the promotional use of goods or services funded by the government to benefit a specific candidate. The incident was documented and shared via the social media profiles of the IAV and the mayor, who is also the candidate's husband.
