Mato Grosso judges and conciliators receive training during III National Special Courts Week

Around 100 conciliators from the Mato Grosso Special Courts took part in a two‑session workshop titled “Juizados, Conciliação em Ação” on June 16‑19, aiming to improve mediation techniques and strengthen their role in dispute resolution. Participants included roughly 40 conciliators from Cuiabá and Várzea Grande and about 60 others joining remotely via Microsoft Teams. Organizers highlighted the importance of qualified mediators, with instructor Maria Helena de Deus Bezerra noting that “effective conciliation requires a trained conciliator who knows the proper techniques and tools.”

In parallel, about 130 lay judges and court assistants attended a virtual training on artificial intelligence applied to Special Courts on June 16‑17. The session, led by Judge Vinicius Paiva Galhardo, covered AI basics, prompt engineering, and safe usage, emphasizing that “the quality of AI‑generated answers depends on how we instruct the tools.”

The Escola Superior da Magistratura of Mato Grosso also opened registrations for a two‑day in‑person course on the National Pact for the Judiciary and Human Rights, scheduled for June 23‑24, targeting magistrates, staff, and assistants. The program, taught by international law expert Valério de Oliveira Mazzuoli, will examine the Inter‑American Human Rights system, the American Convention on Human Rights, and related jurisprudence.
