Mato Grosso craft fair generates R$365 mil in sales, boosting artisan market

The FIT Pantanal 2026 craft fair was held in Cuiabá from June 3 to 7, showcasing products from artisans across Mato Grosso. Twenty‑eight municipalities participated with 104 exhibition stands, and the event recorded R$365,000 in sales, expanding business opportunities for craftsmen from several regions of the state.

Artisan Patrícia Barbosa of Cuiabá highlighted the fair’s role in gaining visibility, saying, “The fair is important to publicise and give visibility to our work, so more people know what we produce… Events like this help bring Mato Grosso craft to the world.” Coordinator Lourdes Sampaio of the State Secretariat for Economic Development added that the exhibition strengthens both the craft sector and tourism, noting that “craft is an expression of our cultural identity and an important tourist attraction.” The fair presented a wide range of items, including ceramics, embroidery, crochet, indigenous crafts, woodwork, and pieces made from natural seeds, underscoring the region’s cultural richness.
