Mato Grosso declares public holiday for Brazil World Cup match
The state government of Mato Grosso issued a decree making Monday, 29 June 2026, a point‑facultative day for all state public offices to allow citizens to watch the Brazil national football team’s game in the 2026 World Cup. Traditional administrative activities are suspended, with services resuming on Tuesday. Essential services, including police, fire, emergency medical units, hospitals and the Central Laboratory of Public Health, continue operating on 24‑hour shifts. The decree lists closed facilities such as the State Secretariat of Health headquarters, the Cridac, Ceope, Cermac, the MT Hemocenter and state pharmacies, while confirming that emergency response units and specialized police departments remain on duty.
