Mato Grosso deputy Gilberto Cattani tours north region to address soy moratorium and BR‑163 road plan

State deputy Gilberto Cattani (PL) visited the municipalities of Lucas do Rio Verde, Ipiranga do Norte, Itanhangá and Tapurah in Mato Grosso on June 18‑19. He held a public hearing on the urban crossing of federal highway BR‑163 and discussed the proposed contorno viário, evaluating its safety and economic impacts for local businesses.

During the tour, Cattani focused on the soy moratorium that limits credit and market access for farms opened after 2008. Producers reported difficulties selling their harvests and obtaining financing. Cattani noted that a legislative project he authored helped resolve the issue within the state assembly. The meetings gathered farmers, union leaders, mayors and entrepreneurs to collect concrete data that will be forwarded to the Assembly’s committees for possible new laws, fiscal incentives and infrastructure initiatives.

The deputy emphasized the importance of maintaining direct dialogue with rural communities to shape policies that support the agricultural sector and improve regional logistics.
