Mato Grosso do Sul approves property rights awareness month

The Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso do Sul has approved a bill authored by State Deputy Coronel David to establish ‘Abril Verde e Amarelo’ (Green and Yellow April). This month will be dedicated to raising awareness regarding the protection of private property, legal security, and the fulfillment of the social function of land.

The proposal, which has been sent to Governor Eduardo Riedel for sanction, includes adding April to the state's official calendar of events. It allows for educational campaigns, seminars, and legal guidance for both rural and urban property owners.

Key objectives of the project include preventing land invasions and strengthening legal security in rural areas. The bill also authorizes the Executive Power to create a direct reporting channel via telephone or application for communications regarding property threats or invasions, potentially operated by the Military Police Rural Patrol. Additionally, the text includes provisions for training in rational land use, environmental awareness, and initiatives to combat slave-like labor.
