Mato Grosso do Sul dancers headline Joinville Festival and launch free chamamé course

The Sesc MS Dance Company from Campo Grande, formed by students of the Sesc Lageado unit, was selected to represent Mato Grosso do Sul at the 43rd Festival de Dança de Joinville, the world’s largest dance festival, held from 20 July to 1 August. The troupe will present three choreographies – “Entre Nós”, “Entre Véus e Afetos” and “Ainda Somos os Mesmos” – and take part in workshops with teachers from across Brazil, marking many dancers’ first international experience.

Separately, the state’s National Rural Apprenticeship Service (Senar/MS) opened registrations for a free 90‑hour chamamé dance course in Campo Grande, running in August. Open to anyone aged 18 or older, the program aims to preserve the region’s cultural heritage, promote social integration and improve quality of life through dance. Applications close on 31 July.
