Mato Grosso do Sul farmer fined for livestock neglect

A farmer in Paraíso das Águas, Mato Grosso do Sul, has entered into a Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) with the Public Ministry of Mato Grosso do Sul (MPMS) following an inspection that revealed severe livestock neglect.

Inspectors found approximately 8,860 cattle in critical physical condition, showing signs of malnutrition and death, alongside severely degraded pastures. As part of the agreement, the responsible party must pay R$ 40,000 in compensation and faces a daily fine of R$ 1,000 for non-compliance.

The mandatory measures include ensuring access to potable water and adequate nutrition, such as mineral supplements, for the herd. The owner must also implement a Pasture Recovery Plan to correct soil issues and establish a rotation system to prevent overstocking. The cattle will undergo monitoring every two months for one year to track their health and sanitary status.
