Mato Grosso do Sul Justice Court partners with Santa Casa to expand inmate reintegration

On July 27, the Tribunal de Justiça de Mato Grosso do Sul (TJMS), through the 2nd Criminal Execution Court in Campo Grande, formalized a partnership with the Santa Casa hospital to integrate its "Renascer – Inclusion, Dignity and Transformation" program into the Jornada São Dimas initiative. The agreement will allow 11 sentenced inmates serving at the Agro‑Industrial Gameleira Penitentiary Center to work in various hospital sectors, gaining vocational experience while contributing to the institution.

The ceremony highlighted the social‑rehabilitation goal, with Nereu Alves Rios emphasizing the need for respect, dignity and discipline in reinsertion efforts, and Santa Casa president Alir Terra Lima stressing the hospital’s commitment to human dignity and new opportunities. The partnership aims to strengthen alternative sentencing and support the transition of detainees back into society, overseen by Judge Albino Coimbra Neto.
