Mato Grosso do Sul launches up to 20% electricity discount and approves staff secondment for national tax committee
The state of Mato Grosso do Sul will extend the Programa Em Conta to 74 municipalities, allowing residents to receive up to a 20% reduction on electricity bills through credit compensation from partner solar power plants. The initiative, spearheaded by state deputy Paulo Corrêa and formalized by the president of the Federação das Indústrias do Estado, aims to lower household expenses without requiring new installations.
In a separate measure, the Assembleia Legislativa approved a bill permitting the temporary transfer of officials from the State Treasury and the Attorney General’s Office to the Comitê Gestor do Imposto sobre Bens e Serviços (CGIBS). The two‑year secondment, renewable once, is intended to align the state with the newly created national IBS tax administration. The same legislative session also ratified pet‑health awareness campaigns for breast cancer and prostate disease.
These actions reflect the state's effort to combine fiscal adaptation to federal tax reforms with direct social benefits for its citizens.
