Mato Grosso do Sul marks 49 years with leading social mobility

Mato Grosso do Sul is celebrating 49 years since its official installation, marking a period of significant economic and social development. The state currently leads Brazil in social mobility, a trend attributed to public and private investments, a favorable business environment, and full employment. Governor Eduardo Riedel has emphasized investments in education and professional qualification to sustain this growth.

In the capital, Campo Grande, the city has seen substantial growth in competitiveness and economic activity. The municipality rose 13 positions in the 2026 Municipal Competitiveness Ranking and maintains one of the lowest unemployment rates in Brazil at 4.1%. The number of active companies in the capital has increased by 44.6% since 2020.

The state's political landscape has also evolved. While the interior remains a decisive factor in legislative elections, Campo Grande's political influence has grown significantly, now accounting for a larger share of the state's legislative representation compared to its founding years.
