Mato Grosso expands patient rights for women in healthcare

Mato Grosso has implemented new legislation, known as the Ana Carolina Aguiar Lima Law, to enhance protections for women during medical procedures. The law expands the right for women to have a companion of their choice during consultations, exams, and medical or surgical procedures, including those involving sedation or physical exposure.

Key provisions include the right to an accompaniment during the post-anesthetic recovery period in observation rooms while sedative effects persist. Additionally, healthcare facilities are now required to obtain written confirmation from patients ensuring they have been informed of this right prior to any procedure.
