Mato Grosso expands support and safety programs for rural women

Authorities in Mato Grosso are expanding initiatives to protect rural women and combat domestic violence. Through a joint ordinance signed on October 7, 2026, the State Secretariat of Family Agriculture (Seaf-MT), the Civil House, and the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Citizenship (Setasc-MT) will bring mobile services and protection teams directly to farming communities.

This measure aims to bridge the gap between isolated rural residents and public services by providing information on legal rights and available support channels. The initiative includes the deployment of the 'Van Rosa' mobile unit and the 'SER Família Mulher' program to community meetings.

In the municipality of Nova Mutum, a new municipal program for personal defense and preventive security has also been established. This program provides martial arts training, such as jiu-jitsu, specifically targeting victims of domestic violence and those under protective orders. The goal is to strengthen self-confidence and teach techniques for recognizing threats and neutralizing physical aggression.
