Mato Grosso firefighters extinguish Morro de Santo Antônio forest fire
The Mato Grosso Military Fire Department (CBMMT) has officially declared the forest fire at Morro de Santo Antônio in Santo Antônio de Leverger extinguished. The fire, which was first identified via satellite monitoring on Monday, August 31, was brought under control on Tuesday before being fully declared out on Wednesday, September 2.
The firefighting operation involved ground teams and three aircraft from the Military Firefighter Aviation Group (GAvBM) and the State Civil Defense. During the operation, crews performed 28 water drops totaling approximately 85,000 liters. While rainfall in the region assisted in controlling the flames, firefighters remained on-site through Wednesday to monitor the area for potential reignition.
Coordination of the efforts was managed by the Environmental Emergencies Battalion (BEA) in conjunction with the management of the local conservation unit. No injuries were reported during the incident.
