Jangada estimates R$ 50 million in losses from wildfires

The Mayor of Jangada, Rogério de Oliveira Meira, estimates that recent wildfires in the municipality's rural zone have caused approximately R$ 50 million in damages. The fires have impacted soybean crops, sugarcane plantations, livestock, and various rural properties.

During a meeting with the Mato Grosso Municipal Association (AMM), the mayor requested government support to combat the flames, which have also affected areas along the BR-364 highway. The municipality has declared a state of emergency following the destruction of vegetation and threats to local residences.

Emergency response efforts currently include three aircraft, more than 22 firefighters, and five Civil Defense agents. The mayor met with the Minister of Institutional Relations, José Guimarães, to discuss the challenges posed by the fires and the impacts of the El Niño phenomenon on the region.
