Várzea Grande secured R$ 200 million in projects and hosts Mato‑Grosso student games

The city of Várzea Grande hosted the opening ceremony of the Mato‑Grosso Student Games, bringing together delegations from 22 municipalities at the Fiotão Sports Complex. The event was highlighted by state officials, including Secretary of Culture, Sports and Leisure Davi Moura, who praised the city's capacity to stage large‑scale competitions.

In parallel, the state government announced a series of investments for Várzea Grande. More than R$ 44 million was allocated for urban infrastructure and social assistance, covering market renovation, road paving, drainage and a new avenue linking the airport rotary to Lincoln Nazareno Avenue. Governor Otaviano Pivetta later unveiled a separate plan to build a new municipal hospital and emergency unit near the airport, with an estimated cost exceeding R$ 200 million, plus R$ 8.5 million for a new Politec forensic office.

Additional initiatives include a partnership that earmarks over R$ 41 million for the construction of an institute for seniors, the certification of the Biblioteca Infantil Professora Nhazinha for national funding eligibility, and further state‑wide infrastructure projects totaling billions of reais for all 142 municipalities of Mato‑Grosso.
