Mato Grosso Governor Unveils R$85 Million Infrastructure Plan for Cuiabá, Várzea Grande

Governor Otaviano Pivetta of Mato Grosso signed agreements on 3 May committing more than R$85 million to the state’s two largest cities. In Várzea Grande, the package includes R$10.5 million to restart work on the municipal market, R$13.2 million for pavement and drainage in the Paiaguás and Nova Fronteira neighborhoods, R$15.1 million for paving and resurfacing in the Costa Verde, Parque do Lago, Chapéu do Sol and Marajoara districts, and a R$6 million project to build a new avenue linking the airport roundabout to Avenida Lincoln Nazareno, which will also improve access to the future municipal emergency hospital.

In Cuiabá, a R$23.4 million concession will fund roughly 80 km of micro‑asphalt resurfacing across several neighborhoods, while R$17.6 million is earmarked for constructing a long‑term care institution for the elderly. Both mayors and the state infrastructure secretary attended the ceremony, emphasizing the partnership’s role in expanding urban mobility and social services.
