Mato Grosso grants fire tax exemption to APAE and Pestalozzi Associations

Mato Grosso has enacted Law No. 13.491/2026, which grants an exemption from the Fire Safety Tax (TACIN) to the Associations of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional (APAEs) and Pestalozzi Associations. The law applies to properties and activities directly linked to the institutional purposes of these philanthropic entities.

Co-authored by state deputies Wilson Santos, Max Russi, Dr. João, and Diego Guimarães, the measure aims to reduce maintenance costs for organizations serving people with disabilities. This allows these institutions to redirect financial resources toward the needs of students and their families.

To qualify, organizations must provide annual proof of their non-profit philanthropic status, fiscal and labor regularity, and their state public utility title. The law specifies that the exemption does not waive the requirement to comply with fire and panic safety standards set by the Military Fire Brigade of Mato Grosso (CBMMT) or the necessity of obtaining a Fire Brigade Inspection Certificate (AVCB).
