Mato Grosso indigenous licensure applications close September 20

Applications for specific intercultural indigenous licensure courses for the Capoto-Jarina Indigenous Territory in Mato Grosso close on Sunday, September 20. The initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT).

A total of 60 vacancies are available across three disciplines: Pedagogy, Languages and Humanities, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The selection process targets young people and adults from the Mẽbêngôkre/Kayapó, Tapayuna, Trumai, and Yudjá communities. Priority is given to candidates without undergraduate degrees who currently serve as teachers in village schools.

The program follows the National Policy for Indigenous School Education in Ethno-educational Territories (PNEEI-TEE), which promotes multilingual and intercultural education. The courses will utilize an alternating pedagogy model, split between university time and community time, with activities held at the UFMT campus in Cuiabá and decentralized stages within the Capoto-Jarina territory.
