Pink October campaigns intensify in Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul

Health authorities and public institutions in the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul are intensifying efforts for the ‘Pink October’ breast cancer awareness campaign.

In Mato Grosso, the Public Prosecutor's Office (MPMT) organized a discussion forum featuring specialists from the Mato Grosso Cancer Hospital. The event focused on prevention, early diagnosis, patient rights, and debunking misinformation. Experts emphasized that early detection significantly increases cure rates and clarified that modern treatments often allow for more conservative options than total mastectomies.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, the Legislative Assembly (ALEMS) is promoting awareness to address high incidence rates. According to the National Cancer Institute (Inca), the state recorded 910 cases in 2025. Efforts are being directed toward increasing mammography coverage, which currently remains below World Health Organization (WHO) targets, to transform awareness into practical preventive action.
