Mato Grosso judiciary rolls out environmental law course and expands jury program

The Mato Grosso State Court announced that registrations are open for a second‑edition introductory course on Environmental Law, aimed at judges and appellate magistrates. The five‑day program, running from August 3 to 5, will be delivered by leading scholars Ingo Wolfgang Sarlet and Tiago Fensterseifer and will accommodate 50 participants. It is intended to update the judiciary on contemporary ecological and climate‑related challenges and to count toward magistrates’ promotion requirements.

Separately, the Corregedoria‑Geral da Justiça of Mato Grosso reported that its "Programa Mais Júri" has held 66 juror sessions this year and plans more than 60 additional trials before year's end. The initiative, designed to reduce case backlogs and expedite homicide and femicide prosecutions, includes upcoming sessions on July 15 and 30 in Cuiabá, presided over by Judge Marcos Faleiros da Silva. The program currently operates in ten comarcas across the state, aiming to enhance judicial efficiency and public safety.
