Mato Grosso justice projects expand services for elderly and remote residents

The Corregedoria‑General of the Mato Grosso State Court (CGJ‑MT) announced the inaugural “Week of Basic Documentation for the Elderly,” a mobile outreach to provide civil identity documents, CPF regularization, and referrals to social benefits for seniors living in long‑term care facilities, shelters and homes. The first edition is scheduled for 14‑18 September 2026 in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande, with plans to expand to other regions. Judges Myrian Pavan Schenkel and Gerardo Humberto Alves da Silva Junior highlighted that “documentation is the gateway to citizenship” for older adults.

In the neighboring state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the Tribunal’s “Justice Truck” (Carreta da Justiça) visited Ladário (June 15‑16) and Bodoquena (June 19‑20), delivering free legal assistance to isolated communities. Under Judge Juliano Duailibi Baungart, the mobile unit served 401 people in Ladário (126 attendances) and 187 people in Bodoquena (98 attendances), opening 62 and 31 legal actions respectively, including recognitions of stable unions, conversions to marriage, divorces, alimony matters, name corrections and other civil procedures. The Public Defender’s Office also provided support in both towns.
