Mato Grosso launches solar credit line and rural energy tariff discounts
The state of Mato Grosso approved Law 13.333/2026, establishing a special credit line for low‑income households and micro‑entrepreneurs to finance the installation of solar photovoltaic systems. The funding will be provided through the state development agency Desenvolve MT, aiming to lower electricity expenses, expand renewable energy use and create economic opportunities for families and small businesses.
In parallel, the Ministry of Mines and Energy issued a new decree outlining flexible discount periods for rural electricity consumers. The regulation allows a daily discount of up to 8 hours 30 minutes, which can be taken in one continuous block or divided into up to three time slots, excluding the 17:00‑21:30 window. The measure is intended to reduce operational costs for irrigation, aquaculture and other energy‑intensive agricultural activities, giving producers greater control over scheduling and improving the economic viability of such projects.
