Mato Grosso launches Statewide Elderly Documentation Week
The Corregedoria‑Geral da Justiça de Mato Grosso (CGJ‑MT) issued Provision TJMT/CGJ No. 18/2026‑GAB‑CGJ to establish the first "Semana da Documentação Básica da Pessoa Idosa" in the state. The inaugural edition is scheduled for 14–18 September 2026, earlier than the usual first week of October due to the electoral calendar.
The week aims to improve civil documentation for vulnerable seniors, especially those living in long‑term care facilities, homes, and shelters. Services to be offered include issuing second copies of birth, marriage and death certificates, regularising CPF numbers, providing the National Identity Card (CIN), updating biometric data and offering guidance on pensions, social programmes, property registration and succession matters.
The initial rollout will take place in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande, with plans to expand to other municipalities as resources allow. Desembargador José Luiz Leite Lindote, the Justice Corregidor‑General, said: "Documentation civil is the gateway to full citizenship. With this initiative we want to bring the judiciary and public services closer to elderly people who face difficulties accessing their rights, guaranteeing dignity, security and inclusion."
