Mato Grosso launches Virtual Court Service to broaden citizen access

The Mato Grosso State Court has introduced the "Bal​cão Virtual," an online platform that lets citizens, lawyers, public defenders and prosecutors obtain information and assistance from any judicial unit via video‑call or chat. The service, available for all municipalities in the state, operates during regular court hours (13:00‑19:00) through Microsoft Teams and aims to reduce travel, save time and cut costs for users.

According to judicial manager Rogéria Borges Ferreira, the tool has made service faster and more accessible, especially for residents of remote areas. While lawyers are the most frequent users, any member of the public can request guidance, check case status or learn about court services without leaving home. The platform does not replace the official electronic filing system nor alter procedural rules; it simply provides a remote front‑desk for inquiries.
