Mato Grosso Legislative Assembly advances infrastructure and culture
The Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT) has reported significant progress in regional development and cultural preservation during the first half of 2026.
On the infrastructure front, ALMT President Max Russi highlighted advancements in the Médio-Norte region, specifically regarding the BR-163 highway and the implementation of Brazil’s first state-run railway. The assembly approved measures allowing the Mato Grosso government to take over the BR-163 concession, facilitating investments in road recovery and duplication to improve safety and logistics for agricultural production. The new state railway project is expected to expand through strategic municipalities, including Nova Mutum.
Simultaneously, the ALMT’s Secretariat of Culture and Legislative Memory has focused on expanding access to historical heritage. Through programs such as ‘Aula de Cidadania – Por Dentro do Parlamento’, the institution has worked to democratize access to political and legislative history for students, researchers, and the general public across various regions of the state.
