Mato Grosso Legislative Assembly approves digital inclusion and violence prevention initiatives

The Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT) has advanced two distinct legislative and social initiatives. First, the Assembly, through its Special Women's Prosecutor's Office, is collaborating with the State Government and various judicial and public safety institutions to develop two manuals aimed at preventing and combating violence against women.

These manuals are designed for communication and public safety professionals to provide guidance on avoiding victim exposure, preventing the reproduction of violent behaviors, and curbing sensationalist reporting on domestic violence and femicide. The project specifically addresses the ‘copycat effect,’ where excessive detail in media coverage may lead to the imitation of violent crimes.

Additionally, the ALMT approved Bill No. 175/2025, authored by President Max Russi. The law establishes guidelines to expand internet access and promote digital inclusion within indigenous and quilombola communities in the state. The initiative seeks to reduce inequality by facilitating access to digital public services and technological training while ensuring that infrastructure implementation respects cultural identities and includes the right to free, prior, and informed consultation with these communities.
