Mato Grosso Municipal Association to resume election vote counting

The Association of Mato Grosso Municipalities (AMM) will resume the counting of votes to conclude its election for the 2027–2029 term. The process is scheduled to take place this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the association's headquarters in Cuiabá.

The resumption follows a judicial decision by Judge Olinda de Quadros Altomare, which extinguished the legal process and revoked injunctions that had suspended the election. The legal challenge was initiated by the municipality of Nova Xavantina, which questioned statutory changes and the election rules, alleging insufficient quorum for certain approvals.

The counting will include 99 votes cast on September 16, as well as votes from a subsequent supplementary election. These ballots are being held in separate, sealed boxes. Hemerson Lourenço Máximo, known as Maninho, is the sole candidate for the presidency under the “AMM + Forte e Presente” slate.
