Mato Grosso municipalities report rising education scores

Municipalities in Mato Grosso, Brazil, have reported significant improvements in their 2025 Basic Education Development Index (IDEB) scores.

Campo Verde reached a score of 7.1 in the early years of elementary school, rising from 6.0 in 2023. This performance places the municipality fourth in the state. Notably, the rural Escola Municipal Paraíso achieved a score of 8.3, the highest among municipal schools in Mato Grosso. Local authorities attribute this success to data-driven management, improved school transport, and student nutrition.

Barra do Bugres also saw an increase in its IDEB score, rising from 5.3 to 5.9. The municipality has received several state and national recognitions, including the Alfabetiza MT 2026 award and the Sebrae Prefeitura Empreendedora award. These advancements are linked to a technical cooperation agreement between the municipal government and the GEMTE group, which focused on continuous diagnostic evaluations and pedagogical planning.
