Operation Backdoor probes theft of computers and vehicles from Brazil's Receita Federal

On July 23, Brazil's Federal Police launched Operation Backdoor to investigate a scheme that diverted roughly 300 computers, five refrigerators valued at about R$350,000, and several vehicles from the Receita Federal's port‑zone facilities in Rio de Janeiro. Investigators say a public servant assigned to the agency and members of a social organization allegedly coordinated the theft, using forged donation documents to mask the transfers.

Police executed four search and seizure warrants in the Rio neighborhoods of Brás de Pina, Senador Camará and Guaratiba, as well as in Encruzo da Enseada, Angra dos Reis. The raids aimed to locate the stolen assets, identify the network of recipients, and gather evidence of further misappropriation. The inquiry remains ongoing.
