Mato Grosso prepares for government transition and administrative reforms
Political transitions and administrative restructuring are underway in Mato Grosso following recent elections. Governor Otaviano Pivetta is preparing for his upcoming term with plans to review state expenses, which may include cutting commissioned positions and potentially reducing the number of state secretariats. Gisela Simona, the incoming Chief of Staff, confirmed that a detailed survey is being conducted to identify savings in contracts and services, such as vehicle rentals, without compromising public services.
In terms of leadership, Eduardo Manciolli has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Casa Civil. This choice has received support from both outgoing Governor Mauro Mendes and the Podemos party, with Max Russi noting that the party will focus its support through the Legislative Assembly rather than negotiating for cabinet seats.
Within the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT), internal negotiations for the next Board of Directors have begun. Deputy Dr. João expressed interest in remaining as First Secretary, noting that while there is a movement to maintain Max Russi as president, the final composition will depend on ongoing discussions between newly elected and re-elected deputies. Meanwhile, the Liberal Party (PL) has dismissed rumors of leadership changes, with Odílio Balbinotti Filho affirming that Ananias Filho will remain as the state party president.
