Brazil boosts energy efficiency and grid reliability for thousands

In Mato Grosso, the state’s “Nossa Energia” program managed by Energisa’s efficiency unit has swapped roughly 900,000 incandescent lamps, about 13,000 refrigerators and more than 4,200 fans and other appliances since 2015. Participants can receive up to six LED bulbs, one fan and one refrigerator, and the collected items are sent to specialized facilities for safe treatment and recycling, preventing mercury contamination and long‑term waste.

In Pará, electric utility Equatorial Pará is building a new distribution feeder in Santarém’s Santarenzinho and Aeroporto Velho neighborhoods. The project, part of the “Mais Energia Pará” program, will serve around 20,000 customers, install 123 new poles and lay roughly 3.7 km of Spacer‑type line that reduces vegetation contact and improves system robustness.
