Mato Grosso prosecutors demand solutions for regional hospital crisis

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Mato Grosso (MPMT) has convened local mayors and representatives of the Vale do Peixoto Intermunicipal Health Consortium (CISVP) to address a crisis at the Peixoto de Azevedo Regional Hospital (HRPAZ).

Inspections conducted by the State Health Secretariat and the MPMT revealed critical failures at the 70-bed facility, which serves several municipalities and 63 indigenous villages. Key issues include the suspension of elective surgeries due to a lack of basic supplies, deficiencies in the blood bank, sterilization center, and hospital pharmacy, as well as structural problems regarding the building's roof.

Additionally, the MPMT raised concerns regarding the legal status of the CISVP, noting that the consortium may not have completed the constitution process required by law, potentially affecting the regularity of public resource transfers.
