Mato Grosso records R$35 bn tax revenue and approves R$42 m health contracts

The Brazilian state of Mato Grosso reported a tax collection of R$35 billion on Sunday, reaching the milestone eight days before the same point last year. The amount represents about 1.25% of the R$2.4 trillion collected nationwide in the same period and is attributed to a combination of stronger economic activity, inflation in goods and services, and higher consumption and income taxes. The state’s ICMS is the main source of revenue, while municipalities such as Cuiabá (over R$728 million), Rondonópolis, Sinop, Várzea Grande, Sorriso and Lucas do Rio Verde contribute the bulk of local collections.

Separately, the Mato Grosso State Health Secretariat published four new contracts totaling R$42.2 million. The largest contract, worth R$34.7 million, is for the design, manufacture, assembly and installation of MDF modular furniture for health facilities in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande. A second contract of R$5.6 million covers ongoing specialized medical services for emergency regulation centers in several municipalities. Additional agreements provide refrigeration equipment for vaccine and blood component storage.
