Mato Grosso reports economic growth and low poverty rates

Mato Grosso is experiencing significant economic development, with the state's GDP growing by 12.9% in 2025, significantly outpacing the Brazilian national average of 2.3%. Projections for 2026 suggest continued expansion, with Banco do Brasil forecasting 2.2% growth for the state.

In response to this growth, the state government is evaluating administrative reorganizations. This includes discussions regarding a potential Voluntary Resignation Program (PDV) and the integration of Artificial Intelligence to modernize public management. The state has already established the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (ceIA. MT) to train civil servants and develop technological solutions.

Social indicators also show positive trends. According to the 2026 State Competitiveness Ranking by the Center for Public Leadership (CLP), Mato Grosso has the second-lowest proportion of families living below the poverty line in Brazil, at 1.9%. This figure, based on 2025 IBGE data, follows only Rio Grande do Sul.
