Fiocruz extends deadline for Brazil's Health and Environment Olympiad

The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) announced that the registration deadline for the 13th Brazilian Olympiad of Health and Environment (Obsma) has been moved to 20 July. The extension gives teachers nationwide more time to submit projects that combine health, environment, education and science. Participation is free and open to students from elementary‑to‑technical levels in both public and private schools, with submissions accepted in audiovisual, written and science‑project formats. According to national coordinator Cristina Araripe, the change reinforces Fiocruz’s commitment to scientific outreach and aims to increase the number of entries. Projects will be screened in regional phases until August, after which national finalists will be selected and awarded in a ceremony at Fiocruz’s Rio de Janeiro campus, with travel costs covered by Fiocruz and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
