Mato Grosso state government moves ahead with highway concession plan and health pandemic contract probe

Governor Otaviano Pivetta of Mato Grosso added the MT‑060 and MT‑451 road sections linking Nossa Senhora do Livramento and Poconé to the second phase of the state's 2023‑2026 Road Concessions Programme. The 124.83‑km Lote F will be offered to private operators, with a public hearing scheduled for 21 July to discuss contract terms, tolls and investment plans for maintenance and upgrades.

The Mato Grosso Legislative Assembly's Health CPI heard State Attorney General Francisco de Assis da Silva Lopes and businesswoman Virgínia Scaff Gonçalves Grassani Silva about contracts signed with the State Health Secretariat during the Covid‑19 pandemic. The contracts, worth more than R$ 4.2 million for ten ICU beds at the Regional Hospital in Cáceres, are under investigation for irregularities and alleged fraud, as the provider lacked ICU experience. The CPI will cross‑check testimony, probe a reported cyber‑attack on health systems and has extended its work for another 180 days.
